It’s Better To-gather!

In the month of July, we launch our annual Cell Month campaign. It’s a month of celebrating cell groups and encouraging members to be part of one. Cornerstone is a cell church and one of our core values is that life change happens best in cell communities. At the same time, we inaugurated the 40-Day Solemn Assemblies on July 1, a nationwide campaign to mobilise churches, leaders and believers in our nation to fast and pray. Cornerstone had the privilege of anchoring the […]
Theology of Work

We spend more time at work – whether paid or unpaid – than at any other waking activity. If God cares about our lives, He must care about our work. No matter what your profession or occupation, whether you’re a parent, bus driver, artist or engineer, God cares about your work. 1. Work of God“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Eph 2:10 The Apostle […]
Antidotes to Stress

I’ve just returned from a personal retreat in Wales two weeks ago and it’s been a life-changing and mountain-top experience for me. As Singaporeans, our quality of life has never been better, yet stress has never been more epidemic. When I refer to stress here, I’m talking about “bad stress”. Bad stress can also be termed as distress, and manifests itself in chronic or ongoing distress that begins to hinder your everyday life and stops you from completing tasks that you […]
For Such A Time As This

It’s been an eventful week where the Jewish people celebrated the Feast of Purim from Feb 28 – Mar 1. The Feast commemorates the salvation of the Jews in ancient Persia when Haman plotted to annihilate all Jews consisting of young and old in a single day, as recorded in the Megillah (book of Esther). In addition to the miracle of Jewish survival, Purim denotes God’s intimate involvement in all aspects of this world. Even though there were no overt miracles recorded in the […]
Pulling Tomorrow Into Today

If God lets you see future promises, it’s because He wants to hook you and cause you to hunger for them. It’s through a desperate heart that you’re able to bring the fulfilment of those promises into your day. Contending shapes us and makes us capable of carrying more than we’ve ever been able before. All the promises God reveals to us will be realised in time, but the acceleration of events can be determined largely by the desperation and […]
Messengers of Hope

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a good plan for our lives – “to give us a future and a HOPE.” God of Hope God is “the God of Hope” and He wants to “fill you with all joy and peace in believing (through the experience of your faith) that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises” (Rom 15:13). With God, it’s never too late to start believing, […]
Time to Go Forth!

As the school holiday season approaches, we’re expecting many of our church members and families to be travelling overseas for well-deserved year-end holidays or mission trips. Pastor Yang often said that we measure a church’s strength, not by its seating capacity but by its sending capacity. From now until the end of the year, there’ll be a sending forth of 24 Courier teams comprising 234 Cornerstonians to the mission fields in 7 different countries. This is a season “when kings go off to war” (1 Sam 11:1). […]
The Grain, The Wine & The Oil

We’re in the most important month of the Jewish calendar. After celebrating the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) and the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), we celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) this week. The Feast of Tabernacles was celebrated at the dedication of the Temple of Solomon (1 Kgs 8:2), in the Restoration Period (Neh 8), and the Gospels record that our Lord Jesus not only celebrated the festival, He took traditional elements of the celebration and applied them to […]
Feast of Trumpets

This week, the Jewish people in Israel and around the world celebrate Rosh Hashanah and the start of the New Year on the Jewish calendar. Rosh Hashanah means “Head of the Year”, or the Jewish New Year. Rosh Hashanah is also known as Yom Teruah or the “Day of Trumpets”. The Feast of Trumpets marked a 10-day period of consecration and repentance to God. The Feast of Trumpets was one of the “appointed feasts of the Lord” and like all the other “Feasts […]
Transformation

Recently, I’ve been led to read three books simultaneously on my Kindle – “Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting” by Derek Prince; “The Power That Changes The World” by Bill Johnson and “The Book That Made Your World” by Vishal Mangalwadi. The paperback version of Loren Cunningham’s book entitled “The Book That Transforms Nations” was also part of my reading collection. The titles and the messages conveyed in these books are clear and consistent – TRANSFORMATION. Was that not the […]
