We Need A New Reformation PDF Print E-mail

Ever since the Heidi Baker meetings in Singapore three weeks ago, I’ve found myself progressively being  unraveled and I’m slowly becoming undone. I cannot explain what I’m going through or what happened to me in those meetings, but each time Heidi spoke, I found myself crying and feeling my heart being broken and this strange thing has been going on for almost three weeks now. I’ve been weeping and the sadness that I feel is really turning into a desperation that I’ve to do something. I cannot sit still. Add to this, I’m now reading a book by Richard Sterns, the President of World Vision and it has shattered my paradigms and is making feel very uncomfortable with my present status quo.

I don’t think there’s ever been a time in history where the needs and cries of humanity have been greater than now and what is the Church doing in the face of such calamity? If we do not respond to the cries and pleas for help, I’m certain we’re going to be held accountable to God for this travesty. The Church is the hope of the world and we need to do something about the situation. An African pastor once said that a church that hides behind her four walls is not a church at all. And I cannot agree more. The Church is called to get out of our comfort zones and get to where God is calling is to go. This week, I had the privilege of ministering to the missionaries of Target Ministries in Thailand and again, God did something very significant in my heart. He’s certainly adding fuel to the fire and I must respond.

Rick Warren once said that the first Reformation was about creeds, but this coming Reformation is going to be about deeds. It’s going to be about the great exploits of Jesus through His Church. This coming reformation has to do with good deeds; mighty ones that will make the world take notice. We read in Daniel 11:32, “The people who know their God shall be strong and they shall do great exploits. And they who are wise will shine like the stars in heaven and turn many away from unrighteousness.” This coming Reformation is going to be about the good deeds of the Church. I will share more during the services this weekend. May the Lord shake us out of our complacency and lukewarmness.
